Bad Habit Screening

Peterhouse College - the oldest in Cambridge university - hosted a screening of Bad Habit, a wonderful short which I scored. This was followed by a Q&A hosted by (L-R actress Fiona Popplewell, co-directors Jake Thakur & Mercy Brewer, me, DOP Miolin Liu).

A comedy set in a medieval convent doesn't have an obvious musical reference point. This gave me a broad canvas to play with. I wrote a tongue in cheek score using instruments available at the time : a soprano singer I turned into a choir with rhythm from acoustic percussion and sounds made with my mouth and body! In theory this was a good idea but didn't have quite enough scope so added live violin and a synth.
